Can CBD help with exercising?

CBD is one of the main cannabinoids in the cannabis plant. Cannabinoids interact with your endocannabinoid system to help your body maintain a state of balance and stability, or homeostasis.

Whilst exercise is wonderful, it helps you get fit and healthy, stay in shape and improve mood, it can cause injuries to the body and can lead to acute injuries and even inflammation in the body.  This can have a negative effect on overall performance and could prevent an athlete from meeting their goals.

Athletes deal with plenty of issues on a daily basis from aches, pains, inflammation and fluctuating energy levels.

While many athletes turn to supplements or even pain medication to help combat the issues there is another more natural solution that is WADA approved (World Anti-Doping Agency). In 2018, the WAD removed CBD (with the legal level of THC) from its list of banned substances.

CBD has enjoyed increased popularity around the world and many athletes from all sporting backgrounds are turning to CBD oil and supplements to help with their overall performance. CBD oil has the potential to be a complete game-changer and as it has the potential to improve physical, mental and cognitive health.

CBD For Injuries

Whether you are a professional athlete, simply go to the gym to keep in shape or are a weekend warrior you may have to deal with injuries from time to time.

For some it is just dealing with aches and pains, for others, they have to deal with major injuries.

While not every gym-goer experiences debilitating injuries, there are some ailments that are much more common than others. Those injuries include:

Runner’s Knee

Plantar Fasciitis

Hamstring strain, injury or issues

Achilles Tendonitis

Iliotibial Band Syndrome (ITBS)

A combination of CBD tincture (oral) and CBD topical creams could help with the pain and inflammation.

CBD For Inflammation

Inflammation can be caused by a variety of things and can show in the body in the form of sore muscles or aches and pains after a hard training session.

Most people would reach for conventional pain relive like ibuprofen, these medications are effective at reducing both pain and inflammation. However, there are potentially negative health effects when used regularly.

There is research to suggest that CBD could be just as effective as ibuprofen in relieving the pain associated with inflammation. However, CBD has a much better safety profile and fewer, if any, side effects.

CBD For Chronic Pain

While some people encounter pain from overtraining or a temporary injury, others face ongoing pain. Chronic injuries and pain are very common and can side-line people from training for months.

Studies have shown that CBD could help treat these difficult conditions caused by both nerve pain and inflammation. CBD oil could help provide them with relief to potentially assist in getting them back to the activity they enjoy.

CBD For Pre-Race Anxiety

Even if an athlete has spent months training for a race and feels completely prepared, it is normal to feel stress or anxiety the night before a big race. Having nerves before a race not only means stress and anxiety, but it could also lead to a loss of sleep the night before the big event.

Being nervous or anxious can prevent the body from relaxing and going to sleep.  Even being nervous to start a race, often referred to as the “pre-race jitters” can cause anxiety. CBD oil may help in this regard to reduce anxiety and aid better, more restful sleep. for more information follow the link CBD for anxiety

A study on the National Institute on Drug Abuse said, “CBD has shown therapeutic efficacy in a range of animal models of anxiety and stress, reducing both behavioural and physiological (e.g., heart rate) measures of stress and anxiety. In addition, CBD has shown that to be effective in small human laboratory and clinical trials. CBD reduced anxiety in patients with social anxiety subjected to a stressful public speaking task.”

CBD Oil for Marathon Runners

CBD oil is a great supplement to use if you are a marathon runner. Marathon runners put extreme stress on their body and may need something that can help alleviate the pain. Whether or not it is used to reduce inflammation after a long run, or to chill nerves before a big race, CBD oil has a lot of offer marathon runners and should be considered by everyone in the sport.

CBD To Balance Your Mood

Your emotional state can have a big impact on athletic performance. Being an athlete is just as much a mental game as it is a physical pursuit.

In recent studies, researchers have observed that CBD shows effects on animals that are antidepressant-like. If these results are translated easily over to humans, it’s possible CBD oil could help athletes perform better, train harder, and feel ready to tackle a big race when the time for the big competition arrives.

CBD Oil For Recovery

After a tough training session or race is over, it is only natural that the body is dealing with inflammation during the recovery process.

There are a few ways to help the body recover from such vigorous exertion. rehydrate and refuel correctly, get adequate rest and sleep, stretch and reduce inflammation

CBD oil is shown to have anti-inflammatory properties and can help to improve sleep, which may make it a great option to support the need for athletic recovery.
