Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS)… Could CBD help?
Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS) is a condition that causes an uncontrollable urge to move your legs and affects over 10% of the UK population.
It typically happens in the evening or night time hours when you are sitting or lying down. Moving eases the unpleasant feeling temporarily.
Can CBD help RLS?
Besides helping with RLS, CBD has shown to alleviate anxiety, seizures, inflammation, chronic pain, and much more. It is no surprise that CBD helps with RLS as well.
CBD, when used to help Restless Leg Syndrome, works by relaxing muscles, calming the nerves in your legs that cause the tingling and painful sensation.
There is evidence to suggest Restless Legs Syndrome is related to a problem with the part of the brain that controls dopamine. Dopamine is a type of neurotransmitter your body produces, and your nervous system uses it to send messages between nerve cells to help control muscle activity and movement. Dopamine levels tend to fall at the end of the day, which may explain why symptoms are often worse in the evening and during the night.
There is research that shows CBD has a positive effect on dopamine levels which in turn can help reduce or stop the symptoms of RLS.
My husband suffered most evening with the awful RLS conditions however since taking CBD it has all but gone.
The only time he has a bad night now is if he drinks, this seems to trigger the sensation, however his everyday symptoms are nothing like they used to be.
